The Domino is truly a Revolutionary Tool. Since it's launch there have been thousands of these little gems sold. The ease that it lends to ALL TYPES OF JOINERY is remarkable.

Edge Gluing is a snap. As long as you indes off the same surface, the orientation of the mortise is irrelevant. Obviously, we would like to hit the center of the board, however, if you are a bit off...no biggy. The indexing pins make it easy to line up the spacing as well. As long as you index from the same reference end, you will line up. One slick note is, the machine can be adjusted for slop. If you look on the top of the Domino, there is a dial. This dial will allow you to expand the actual mortise that is cut into the workpiece. There is a setting for gnats a@% on the money to the width of the domino, then you can open it up a bit, and then you can open it up more depending on what YOU choose as your tolerance...very kewl. Use this feature for long runs down the edge of your joining work pieces.

The domino is limited to your creativity. Try making a jewelry box with mitered corners. Use the 45* stop position, and actuall cut through the work piece. If you make your own domino tenons out of exotic lumber, you can actually use the dominos as a decorative feature.

Some other noteworthy aspects of the Domino:

Dust Free - The Domino uses the D27 hose end that comes with the CT Vacuums.

Stepped Positioning - Use the stepped positioning that comes calibrated from factory.

Dude it's fast! - Lining up the thing is a snap. You can certainly use the indexing pins; or, mark a line on the adjoining pieces place your cross hair (center-line) on the marked line and plunge.

Easy Depth setting - place the setting on the machine for the size of Domino tenon you are using and plunge.

This machine is truly an amazing thing. If you want to talk DOMINO just give us a jingle. We would be happy to discuss your techniques and applications to make sure it is right for you. Even if you don't think so...you should have a DOMINO.

Other junkies had this to say:

I am using my Domino to do a whole lot of different projects that I would have spent time on trying to use dowel rods or to make joints. I really enjoy the Domino over a biscut cutter any day of the week. It is so simple to use and it is also nice that the tool will not take off on the cutting area. I will be glad to really get into more complicated stuff with the Domino just to really see what kinds of joints I can join together and see how strong they are compared to making my own dovetail joints.
5 of 5 Stars!

It is alway neat to see the internal workings of a tool This is a Domino Cut-out. Note the gearing and how the cutter is able to oscillate.

Festool Domino Index Pins
Indexing is what makes this machine so quick. The pins are set and calibrated at the factory. As you move across the board, the spring loaded pins will catch in the subsequent mortise...perfect every time.
