The NEW Festool OF 2200 Router is one Bad@$% machine. Everytime I see this thing, I can't help singing the theme song from the show "Shaft." Using a quick google search, 2200 watts converts to 2.9502 horsepower. This definately puts the OF 2200 Router in the 3 1/2 Horse class. See my article on HP Ratings. Dude, this is seriously one mean machine. Despite it's "hugeness" the 2200 is extremely versatile. It has all the power you would ever need, and it can micro-adust to a 1/10th mm. The accessories kit that you would have to snag for some extra dough provides for multiple bases, and collets that snap in and out of the base without a tool.

One of the kewlest features of this router is the dust extraction. The dust shroud is spring loaded and surrounds the biit area; once the router is plunged it is locked into place. Not only is this nice for dust extraction, but for chip ejection as well. As always, WEAR EYE PROTECTION WHEN RUNNING WOODWORKING MACHINERY. The Bases that are available for this router is something new as well. There are multiple bases that simply snap in without a tool. The system is "hinge and snap" deal that is very slick. The Accessories Kit is offered in both Imperial (inches) or in Metric (millimeter) versions. It is a great buy, and will make this router evern more versatile.
